Self-Care Isn’t Selfish—It’s Just Smart

Let’s talk about something a lot of us are really good at: putting ourselves dead last on the priority list. You’ve got work, errands, kids, pets, laundry that somehow multiplies overnight, and a never-ending list of “shoulds.” But where’s the you time in all of that?

Here’s the truth: self-care isn’t selfish. It’s necessary. And sometimes, self-care looks like a bubble bath and a face mask—but sometimes it looks like lacing up your sneakers, getting a little sweaty, and moving your body in a way that makes you feel alive again.

So, how do you actually get started on your fitness journey?

Spoiler alert: you don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need to be “fit enough” to join a gym (that’s like saying you need to be clean before you take a shower). You just need a willingness to show up and take the first step.

Start small. Start messy. Start in your favorite old hoodie and mismatched socks. Just start.

Pro tip: If it’s not on your calendar, it’s not happening.

You schedule meetings, school pick-ups, dentist appointments (even though nobody wants to go to those)—why not schedule your workout the same way? Block off that time and treat it like any other important commitment. Because it is.

This is your time to recharge, reset, and remind yourself that your health matters. Not just so you can do all the things for everyone else—but so you feel strong, confident, and capable in your own skin.

Deep Roots Fitness is here for all of it.

Whether you’re brand new to working out or getting back into the groove after a break, we’re here to support you with a community that cheers you on (not judges you), coaches that actually coach, and workouts that challenge you without crushing your soul.

So go ahead—put yourself on the calendar. We’ll be here when you’re ready.
